You will be given general anesthesia that means you will be fast asleep. A few small incisions or holes are made near the umbilical area. After making these small incisions, the laparoscope (a probe with a small camera attached to it) is introduced in the stomach. A few other instruments are inserted via other holes, and the spleen is removed. After removing the spleen, the incisions are closed. You will be moved to the recovery area and pain medications will be given to ease any pain when you get up. The patient is discharged after two to three days post-surgery. None of the body functions will be hampered and the patient is able to eat, sleep and move well without any difficulty.
